This was the first time I’d inked Casey’s work and it was a blast. It looks like it would be simple to ink but these kinds of minimalist renderings, while mot as meticulous as a Velluto or Medina page, can be a little bit misleading; with hundreds of lines and details in a Velluto one can almost afford to not get a few lines perfect because they’re hidden in the art. A more basic drawing means that every line matters and errors will show so it’s more of a challenge to control. Plus you cannot take many liberties with this kind of job. Spider-man was inked in brush but some small details and most of the webbing was inked with marker. This 11X17 image was completed on 10/27/03.
