This job was a twofer for client Brendan Hood, being my tenth and eleventh pieces for him. While my 4th and 5th Robin jobs, all of my solo Robin images so far have been for Brendan. But this time I had my initiation inking over the pencil work of Tom Grummett with now two commissions straight out of the gate. Brendan actually asked me to print them up as bluelines to ink but after some thought he sent me the originals instead. The first one is titled ‘Moonlighting’ showing Tim Drake and his alter-ego. The second is titled ‘Wanted’ with his the patented theme of changing identities for the action, surrounded by wanted posters of his/Batman’s rogues gallery (Joker, Mr. Freeze, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two-face and Catwoman). These were both penciled on 2-ply board but it had a vellum surface with a little tooth which always makes it a little more challenging to get nice ink line strokes with the markers. These were done with the usual combination of brush, markers and brush marker with the ‘Wanted’ one also including ‘china marker’ for the crayon effect and black ink spatter and smudging for the dirty alley/trash textures. They were completed on June 11 and June 20, 2012, respectively. On July 16 I received color files from the client done by Tom Chu.
