The client had held onto this basic drawing by Thomas O’Conner for 10 years and he decided to commission me to finish it while talking to me at a recent, small convention. He requested that I transform it to Superman. I proceeded to draw over the sketch, adjusting things along the way, defining the hands and head and adding in the Superman details. Before inking it I noticed that the head was too low and that he needed a neck so I lightboxed the head to go higher. And I thought that adding a simple frame would be a good design element and also add dimension to the figure. It was mostly done with brush with a little bit of marker used. The work was completed on 7/25/03.
