This one was a tease. While I’d inked a 6-page assignment over Steve on RAZOR for London Night Studios, we’d hoped to do something together once he started getting work at Marvel in 1998. My editor hired me and said his intern was mailing me this piece to ink. Only a photocopy of the pencils showed up in a Fedex envelope. The intern made an error and I was reassured the actual art would show up the next day. But that was the day my editors were let go at Marvel. I inked this piece on vellum over a copy for ‘closure’. So if this version of the handbook series is ever used, Champion will probably be inked by another artist.
