(above) Mitch Ballard's pencils
The 3rd of a commission batch, 4th job inking Mitch and the 16th piece for Jeff, this image was fun since it included Namor rogues Orca the human killer whale, Tigershark, and Llyra. Besides brush & markers I inked this 11 X 17 commission with a razor blade to enhance Namor's rage by scraping the jagged blade into the outlined city of Atlantis that I'd filled in with black to add both contrast and depth. I used white dot zip over the city silhouette to add a watery feel to the image and I added cross- hatched lines behind Namor to add texture & shape to the mound. This job was finished on 2/3/05.
