(above) pencils by Jamal Igle
At a Boston convention I was handed an 11 X 17 sketchbook and asked
to ink the Daredevil image drawn on a page from another convention. We
didn't know the pencil artists identity but thanks to friend Bob Shaw he was
recognized as Jamal Igle. Since the style for well-suited for the approach I
inked it entirely in markers. I first inked it as seen on the top right but later
added blacks to the background upon the clients' consent to add contrast
to the image and play on the design and compositional elements (bottom
right). This commission was completed on 12/6/04.
